When arriving at William P. Hobby Airport (HOU), in Houston, Texas a transfer to the final destination will be necessary. There are a few options available to travelers arriving to or departing from the airport, including rental cars, buses and taxis.

Transfer at Houston Hobby Airport

Rental Cars – The car rental companies at Houston Hobby Airport are located in various locations surrounding the airport. Courtesy shuttles are provided so travelers can transfer between their chosen rental car provider and the airport’s terminal after arrival or before departure. It is best to have the rental car arranged for before arriving at the airport since there are no walk-up desks on location there.

Public Bus Transportation – METRO, The Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County, provides bus routes between Houston Hobby Airport and central Houston.

Several local bus routes stop at the airport for the convenience of easy transfer to or from the city. This includes Buses No. 40, 50 and 73.

The bus stop is located outside the baggage claim area. Signs will show the way to ground transportation and then to the bus.

Other bus companies offer their services to various locations around Houston, including Galveston.

Taxis – Taxi cabs can be found outside the baggage claim area on the lower level of the airport’s terminal. A taxi journey from Houston Hobby Airport to central Houston takes around 40 minutes and will cost around $30.

Hotel Shuttles – Hotels that offer their guests’ an airport shuttle service will collect their guests in curb zone 4 outside the baggage claim area.

RideShares – Several RideShare App companies offer their transfer services at the airport. Arrangements are made through the companies’ apps or websites and they collect their customers in curb zone 5 outside the baggage claim area.

As with all the ground transportation options there are signs in the airport leading the way from the baggage claim area and once in the ground transportation there are signs marked Ride App showing the exact location.

Trains – There is no train station at Houston Hobby Airport, but there is a light rail system in the Greater Houston area and there is an Amtrak and regular train station in central Houston. To get there use one of the local buses that service the airport and then transfer in central Houston or walk the short way, 15-20 minutes, from the end stop to the train station. Greyhound – A Greyhound Station is situated in central Houston. To transfer to the location of it, use the public transit system. Take one of the buses from the airport and transfer to a different route or the light rail Red Line in central Houston. To walk from the center to the Greyhound station will take around 30 minutes.
