Houston Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas doesn’t have a train station so no train connections can be found at the airport itself.

There are however trains in Houston, including METRORail. METRORail is a light rail system operated by METRO, Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County.

The METRORail has three lines, the Red Line, the Green Line and the Purple Line. The Red Line was the first line and it began operation on the 1st of January, 2004 while the other two lines began operating in 2015.

It is the 12th most travelled light rail system in the United States. It serves the greater Houston area.

To get there from Hobby Airport take one of the bus routes, 40 or 50 to downtown Houston and transfer to a different route. Several routes operate downtown Houston and the area the Amtrak station is in. In total 9 different public transit stops and stations are located nearby.

The journey from the airport to the Amtrak Station will take up to 1.5 hours including a few minutes of walking to and from bus stops.

It is also possible to walk from the city center to the Amtrak Station in around 15-20 minutes as the distance is only 0.6 mi/1 km

Amtrak’s Sunset Limited route services Houston with 3 stops per week on the route between New Orleans and Los Angeles.

The train station also serves other train departures and arrivals with close to 79 each on a daily basis. Some destinations with different train routes serving Houston are Boston, Denver, New York, Philadelphia, Washington DC, Newark, Las Vegas, Orlando, Chicago, Indianapolis, Little Rock, Detroit, Albuquerque, St. Louis, San Diego, Atlanta, Colorado Springs, Salt Lake City and San Francisco.

There are plenty of places to dine, have a coffee or shop in close proximity to the Amtrak Station.
